Spending at the Purveyor without a target can leave a Diablo IV build with plenty of replacement gear but no answer to its biggest problem. Before looking for Diablo IV Items, identify the slots that matter most and decide how much currency you can spare. Purveyor Favor is worth considering when those slots need attention and the relevant effect is available in your version of the game.
Let difficult runs reveal the target slots
Start with a recent Pit run or Helltide event that tested your build. If enemies take too long to kill, compare your weapon with the rest of your equipment. If survival is the problem, inspect armor and jewelry for the defensive stats your build needs before committing all your spending to damage.
Choose two slots, then give them an order. The first should address the obstacle that most often ends or slows a run, while the second covers another meaningful weakness. This keeps a promising roll from distracting you with an item that doesn't solve either problem.
Check the effect before committing points
Purveyor Favor is not an automatic choice for every stage of progression. Read its in-game description before assigning War Plan or Boon points, and confirm that the effect is available in your version. If another Boon addresses a more pressing shortage, compare that option before committing to an equipment-focused session.
Check resource requirements at the same time. Don't assume that Mysterious Pearls, favor stacks, or another currency are interchangeable or apply to every activity. Verify what the relevant activity uses, then check that any intended Boon effect is active before you begin spending.
Set a limit before visiting the vendor
Record your starting currency and decide how much to keep in reserve. A spending limit gives the session a clear endpoint even if the rolls are disappointing. It also protects resources you may need elsewhere, rather than letting an unsatisfying visit dictate your next decision.
The limit should reflect what happens after the purchase. A replacement item may still need Tempering, and Obducite can remain important to your progression. If those materials are already scarce, acquiring another candidate may be less useful than returning to activities that supply what your existing gear needs.
Keep candidates you can actually use
During the session, separate promising Ancestral items from gear intended for salvage. Greater Affixes deserve a closer look, but an item still needs to fit one of your chosen slots and support your build. A convenient stash tab makes later comparisons easier without forcing you to evaluate every detail at the vendor.
Compare each candidate with the equipped item before investing more resources. A usable upgrade can be enough to move forward even if it isn't perfect. Once both targets have improved, stop spending and see how the revised setup handles the content that exposed the original weakness.
For the next session, note what you spent, which slot improved, and where the build still struggles. If you're considering cheap Diablo 4 materials, first check whether materials or equipment are the actual bottleneck. That distinction helps you choose your next activity without turning every vendor visit into another open-ended roll.
