Sensitive Gums? Metal Fillings vs. All-Ceramic & Zirconia

jbsze

I had chronic gum redness from old metal fillings. Switching to all-ceramic crowns completely stopped the irritation—they are so biocompatible! Zirconia is also great for back teeth. Anyone else have success going metal-free?

I had massive issues with old metal fillings triggering chronic gum redness. Switching to all-ceramic crowns completely changed that. Ceramics are incredibly neutral and blend perfectly with living tissue, so my gums finally stopped reacting. Zirconia is also fantastic, especially for back teeth since it's super durable, but for sheer biocompatibility and zero irritation, pure ceramic is a lifesaver. If you have sensitive gums, I highly recommend checking out this detailed guide on biocompatible dental materials https://villagedentalmedicine.com/biocompatible-materials-for-safer-dental-restorations/ . It breaks down exactly why these metal-free options are so much safer for your immune system long term.

Exactly my point. Pure ceramic feels so natural. Did your dentist suggest zirconia for your molars, or did you go all-ceramic everywhere?

I did zirconia for the back molars due to the heavy bite pressure, but used pure ceramic for the front. Best decision ever, zero inflammation now!
