What gambling experience do you regret the most?

rafaellopez

Reflecting on our past experiences can provide valuable insights and lessons. In the realm of gambling, there are often moments that stand out, both positive and negative. Can you share a bit about a gambling experience that you regret the most? What happened, and what did you learn from it?

The gambling experience I regret the most is a very valuable one. I didn't gamble for 6 months when I first moved here as I was afraid I'd become addicted. 99% of the time I went out with my best friend. On this particular night she didn't go with me. Back then in the 1980's an $800 paycheck was a big deal. I went to Circus Circus- gambling and lost. I tried a couple more times and lost. Rather than just go home, I literally chased my paycheck. Imagine on Friday, you have $800 then on Saturday morning you have $25.00- It is the biggest regret I have when I say I am only going to play this much and I don't, I play more and have had the negative outcome of not winning. So, it is the regret of losing my hard earned money.

For me, I think the one that I regret the most  is the time I tried to play baccarat with a strategy that I thought was foolproof. I had read about a system called the "martingale" where you double your bet after every loss, so that the first win will recover all previous losses and leave you with a profit equal to the original bet. Sounds good in theory, right? Well, let me tell you, it's not as easy as it sounds.

I started off with a small bet, $5, and things were going great. I won a few times in a row, and my confidence grew. But then, disaster struck. I hit a losing streak, and my bets kept getting higher and higher. Before I knew it, I was betting hundreds of dollars per spin, and I couldn't afford to lose anymore.

So, my advice to anyone reading this is simple: avoid the martingale system like the plague. Stick to what you know, set limits for yourself, and above all, never gamble with money you can't afford to lose. Trust me, you'll thank me later. 😅

Over 10 years of gaming I played with the same friend every weekend, joined many large communities, and also developed great friendships with other random people I’ve encountered. I’ve spent at least 10,000 hours on a Skype/Discord call, and at least 15,000 hours playing games. You would think that someone so “addicted” would have such a hard time quitting, but it was probably one of the experience I regret the most. So many people classified me as a gaming addict, but I wholeheartedly disagree still to this day. The problem was I didn’t have anything else to replace my time with. People would say “study more, or play a sport” – sure, but if I’m getting home at 4pm, and I study for a few extra hours, I’d still be playing at least 3-4 hours a night if I’m going to bed at midnight. Over my life I averaged between 40-60 hours gaming per week. Some days I gamed 16 hours a day on the weekend, and particularly during holidays. Since quitting, I’ve started multiple e-commerce businesses, made huge fitness gains, and been heaps more social. Rarely I might get a small urge to play a game, but honestly it’s rather insignificant.

Hello, we all know that gambling can be exciting and dangerous, which is totally true. I share my most memorable experience that I will never forget and am still regretting. when I played Baccarat in casinos. I saw that it was my lucky day because I won almost 5 million dollars in just a day, but sadly, the casinos refused to pay because they accused me of edge sorting, which I didn't understand. On that day, I got very angry because I didn't think they would tell me that, so I freaked out and threatened to burn the casino down, and I was arrested and taken to the security office. I have learned to always think before speaking because it is harmful to myself. better to control our emotions because we can't avoid them happening.

I will never forget that incident where I used up all my earnings at the casino because I had a friend who played at the casino that influenced me to play. So I tried to play to find out how to win more money that I had earned and have fun. But I often lost, and I had a reason to borrow money from my relative. and then I lied that I would use it.  it's something else, and they know it's not true. That's why they broke their trust in me, and I felt very upset at that time. I understand that playing the casino should only be balanced because it causes addiction and loss of priority in real life. Now I still play casino online, but this experience helped me realize that we can enjoy playing casino, but in the right way with good management to become responsible players.  What about you how to become a responsible casino players?  like in the quote "you can play, but responsibly"?

Someone may have lost a significant amount of money, which could have affected their financial stability or relationships. These experiences can serve as powerful reminders of the negative impact gambling can have on our lives.

It's important to learn from these experiences and take them as lessons. One might realize the need for setting limits, understanding the risks associated with gambling, and seeking support to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. By reflecting on what went wrong and accepting responsibility, individuals can make positive changes and develop healthier attitudes towards gambling.
